Educating Leaders in the Emerging Markets

The Credit Suisse Global Citizens Program, developed in partnership with Emerging World, was designed to help employees demonstrate their social commitment and transfer skills and knowledge with organizations in emerging markets.

Credit Suisse has sent more than twenty leaders to eight different countries, working on a variety of individual assignments covering both microfinance and education.

“We believe that the existence of a sound and stable social environment is key to the long term success of our business,” explains Laura Hemrika, Vice President, Corporate Citizenship − Microfinance Capacity Building Initiative, Credit Suisse. “Credit Suisse and its employees have therefore been working to help strengthen our society and address social issues in collaboration with key partners. As well as providing direct financial support to our partners, we consider it important to make a personal contribution. Our cross-border program enables our employees to add value to the work of our partners around the world. At the same time as enhancing partners’ programs and organizational capacity, employees benefit from a unique learning experience in which they are able to apply and develop their own skills."
